The recently formed Sidera Saxophone Quartet was founded with the aim of enriching and divulging the contemporary and experimental repertoire for this ensemble, starting from the historical to the new works with particular attention to the electroacoustic music.
The four members are among the most active and representative in the italian contemporary panorama. They premiered numerous pieces by renowned composers such as S. Sciarrino, S. Bussotti, A. Pärt, F. Donatoni, L. de Pablo, R. Febel, R. Cendo, I. Fedele, G. Manzoni, R. Doati, M. Edwards, among others.
As soloists and members of various chamber music ensembles they played in very well known festivals, venues and institutions such as Festival d'Automne (Paris), Salzburger Festspiele, Festival Synthese (Bourges), Festival Angelica (Bologna), Milano Musica, Ravenna Festival, Biennale di Venezia, Nuova Consonanza in Rome, Rassegna di Nuova Musica in Macerata, Sagra Musicale Umbra, Nachtstrom (Basel), Ex-Novo Musica in Venezia, Dissonanzen in Napoli, Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Filarmonica Romana, Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte in Montepulciano, Théâtre de la Cité Universitaire in Paris, Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, Auditorium del Lingotto and Teatro Regio in Torino, Teatro San Carlo in Napoli, Hebbel Theatre in Berlin, Symphony Space Hall in New York, Megaron in Athens, Moscow Philarmonic, Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg, New York University, University of Edinburgh, Goldsmiths University, Musikhochschule Freiburg, Eastman School of Music (Rochester - USA), Moscow Conservatory.
They recorded works for Col legno, Brilliant, Edipan, RCA, RAISat, ARS Publica, including world première recordings of works by Bussotti, Edwards, Pärt, Sciarrino, among others.
